The Democratic-Farmer Labor (DFL) lead of the Ag Finance Committee in the Minnesota House says questions about funding cloud prospects for passing a transportation bill this session.
Representative Jeanne Poppe of Austin tells Brownfield additional revenue needs to be generated to address problems with roads and bridges in rural and urban parts of the state.
“And there is a great reluctance on the part of the majority to say they don’t want to raise the gas tax or otherwise raise some revenue in some manner to be able to pay for transportation.”
She says there are many interests competing for dollars, including health and human services, and education.
