January prices paid index up 1.9% on month

The USDA says producers paid more and made less in January than in December.
The index of prices paid increased 1.9% on higher costs for feeder cattle, feeder pigs, interest, and other services, which canceled out lower prices for milk cows, repairs, hay, forages, and complete feeds. Prices received declined 1.6% because of lower prices for market eggs, turkeys, tomatoes, and cauliflower, offsetting gains in cattle, hogs, broiler chickens, and corn.
