The director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture says moving the Soil and Water Conservation Districts under the purview of Department of Ag helps the state better serve farmers.
Director David Daniels says the transfer allows the state to unify its efforts to address issues such as water quality.
“It allows us to have a comprehensive plan as to how we’re dealing with a number of different things – conservation issues, nutrient management strategies – all those things are important.
