Michigan potato growers vote on checkoff

The Michigan Department of Agriculture is conducting a referendum from now through March 3rd to see if potato growers want to continue the state checkoff for the next five years.
The Michigan Potato Industry Commission was first established in 1970 to improve research, promotion and marketing of Michigan potatoes.
The current assessment was increased for the first time in 18 years last year to five and a half cents for every 100 pounds of potatoes sold.
