Lack of snowpack and winter moisture has an agronomist concerned about field conditions in much of Missouri and parts of Illinois.
Matt Montgomery, with Illinois-based Burrus Seed, says soils are what he calls uncomfortably dry. “It’s very interesting – if you look at the US drought monitor they show most of the state of Missouri is yellow and a good portion of that filters into that western Illinois and southern Illinois area,” he says.
