Illinois-based Prairie Farms Dairy has announced plans to expand its Fort Wayne (Indiana) operations. The company will invest nearly $9 million to expand its current facility and add a small number of jobs by 2020.
This is the latest announcement expanding the state’s dairy production, which ranks 14th nationally in milk production and 2nd in ice cream.
Indiana launched its dairy strategy in 2015. Ted McKinney, director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture says one of the goals of the strategy was to add value to Indiana’s dairy products by increasing processing capacity.
