Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson says he’ll talk with Governor Eric Greitens about the Governor’s plan to cut the Missouri Department of Agriculture budget from $53 million to about $40 million. Parson says it’s still early in the budget process.
“So we’re a long way from the final version, but he is the governor, so he has every ability to make those changes, and at some point I’ll go in there and I’ll make my pitch for agriculture like I always have,” said Parson, “and we’ll let chips fall where they fall.”
Parson says Greitens, a fellow Republican, has been “very open” to any conversation they’ve had.
