The Fed Cattle Exchange Internet Auction on Wednesday had 6,220 cattle offered, with 3,616 head sold. The weighted average was 117.60. Last week’s average was 118.52.
Cattle futures staged a decent recovery on Tuesday with April live pretty much filling the bearish gap of late January and closing back above the forty day moving average. If the board can stay on the mend a weaker basis should help asking prices. Early asking prices are around 121.00 to 122.00 in the South, and 194.00 to 195.00 in the North.
