A San Bernardino County farm has become the first farm to have criminal charges brought against it for violating California’s Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act.
Also known as Proposition 2, the law requires that each egg-laying hen must be able to fully spread its wings without touching another animal. Tuesday authorities charge Hohberg Poultry Ranch with 39 counts of violating the law along with 16 other charges for violating the state’s cruelty code.
