The Purdue/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer has recorded its largest month-to-month improvement since October of 2015. The barometer reached 153 – its most positive record to date – in January.
The survey takes into consideration both current conditions and future expectations. The Index of Current Conditions rose to 118 and the Index of Future Expectations rose 23 points to 169 in January.
While the barometer showed a dramatic increase, the report says results are tempered by the fact that more than half of respondents say their farm operation is financially worse off than it was a year ago and more than 60 percent expect their financial condition to be even worse a year from now.
