A few scattered bids were reported on cattle in the South at 116.00 on Tuesday afternoon. Some asking prices have been suggested at around 122.00 in the South, and 192.00 in the North. Packers are expected to remain short bought through much of the week, although contracts will likely follow the first of the month, which will relieve the pressure a bit. Additional buyer interest may surface as the week continues.
The cattle slaughter is estimated at 113,000 head, the same as last week, and 4,000 more than last year.
