President Donald Trump meets Friday at the White House with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to talk about trade and security.
The leaders have agreed to discuss strengthening the bilateral trade and investment relationship between the two countries.
Shortly after inauguration, the President made good on a campaign promise to remove the U.S. from the twelve-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, which includes Japan. Part of U.S. agriculture’s attraction to that deal is that Japan had agreed to lower tariffs on beef, pork and other products.
