U.S. biodiesel usage set a new record in 2016, outpacing its previous mark by almost 40 percent.
“Last year we saw domestically over 2.9 billion gallons of biodiesel and renewable diesel used here in the United States,” said Donnell Rehagen, CEO of the National Biodiesel Board. The domestic biodiesel market grew last year by about 400 million gallons, but usage of imported biodiesel grew by about the same amount, said Rehagen. U.S. biodiesel imports last year exceeded a billion gallons, he said.
