During the next 5 days, multiple storms crossing northern and central California and the Northwest will result in 4- to 12-inch totals in the Sierra Nevada and the Pacific Northwest, and 2- to 6-inch amounts in the northern Rockies. In contrast, dry weather will prevail across the central and southern High Plains and much of the Southwest. Late in the weekend and early next week, a couple of disturbances will result in scattered showers across the eastern half of the U.S.—with snow mostly confined to the nation’s northern tier.
