U.S. farm income rose faster than expenditures from November to December 2016.
The USDA says December’s index of prices received by producers was up almost 6% on the month because of higher prices for cattle, hogs, milk, and market eggs.
The index of prices paid was 0.7% higher with higher prices for feeder cattle, feeder pigs, LP gas, and lower prices for mixed fertilizer, potash, phosphate, hay, forages, and herbicides.
