The feedlot cattle trade was untested on Tuesday with just a few bids reported by private sources in Texas at 116.00. Both buyers and sellers are defensive and cautious given the way futures have slumped to start the week. There have been reports of some asking prices around 120.00 to 122.00 on a live basis, and 192.00 to 194.00 dressed. Meaningful trade volume is not expected until late in the week. The cattle slaughter is estimated at 113,000 head, 2,000 more than last week.
