In the monthly state crop update, the USDA says conditions in the Midwest have varied widely, but overall, most of the region saw a warmer and wetter than normal January.
Weather during January in Illinois was warmer and slightly wetter than average, but does call winter conditions normal. 74% of the state’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, up 5% from the end of December and 9% above a year ago.
