Glanbia and three dairy cooperatives have announced plans for joint venture production facility in Michigan.
The Irish company is proposing a 50 percent ownership with Dairy Farmers of America, Foremost Farms and Michigan Milk Producers Association. The cooperatives would supply the milk while Glanbia would have full commercial and operational control of the business.
The proposed $400 million cheese and whey production facility would process about eight million pounds of milk per day.
