Some Trans-Pacific Partnership member countries are hoping to salvage the trade agreement following President Trump’s executive order this week to withdraw the U.S. from the pact.
Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has discussed the deal with leaders in Japan, New Zealand and Singapore but said that losing U.S. commitment to the pact was a “big loss”.
Japan currently is not considering a TPP without America. The Japan Times reported Tuesday their Deputy Chief cabinet secretary said without the U.S., the deal would be “meaningless”.
