More money for cranberry product research and development might be available under a proposed rule change.
USDA officials are conducting a referendum with cranberry growers on a proposed amendment to the federal cranberry marketing order. They are asking growers and processors in ten states including Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota if the Cranberry Marketing Committee can receive and spend voluntary contributions in addition to checkoff dollars. The committee is not presently allowed to accept money outside of the program.
