Ag in the Classroom Workshop

event June 8, 2023

Date: Thursday, June 8

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. ET

Location: Johnson County Fairgrounds

Cost: $30 per person (includes lunch and all materials)

Each workshop will include different content. The June 8 workshop will focus on grades kindergarten through 8 while the June 15 workshop will focus on grades 7-12.

Attendees will kick off the day with a visit to Ozark Fisheries for a tour of the hatchery and spawning facilities, production and a hands-on lesson in aquaculture. After returning to the fairgrounds and lunch, expert presenters will share classroom activities on photosynthesis, pollinators and plant genetics. We'll even assemble a small-scale aquaculture system for students to investigate the basic needs of plants and fish and discover how plants, animals and bacteria interact in a symbiotic system.

This agenda is best suited for elementary, middle school and high school educators, along with AITC volunteers or extension educators seeking innovative lessons for students of all ages.
