(Indianapolis) – Feb. 4, 2025 – Registration is now open for Indiana Farm Bureau’s anhydrous ammonia training programs, in partnership with Keystone Cooperative and sponsored by the INFB Women’s Leadership Committee. The trainings will be held in person throughout northern Indiana on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Feb. 13: Keystone Cooperative Herbst
    • Location: 2655 S. 600 W., Marion, IN 46953
    • Time: 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 18: Whitley County Ag Museum
    • Location: 680 W. Squawbuck Road, Columbia City, IN 46725
    • Time: 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
Please note this workshop also includes PARP credits through Purdue Extension Whitley County.
  • Monday, March 3: Keystone Cooperative Malden
    • Location: 210 E. 400 S., Valparaiso, IN 46383
    • Time: 5 p.m. Central Time.

The programs will focus on the preparation and safety around anhydrous ammonia, as well as its relation to growing crops presented by the Keystone Cooperative safety team and agronomists. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see a cut-away nurse tank for educational purposes.

Additionally, the training on Tuesday, Feb. 18 in Columbia City will also feature a regulatory update by John Woodmansee, Purdue extension educator – agriculture and natural resources, and attendees will receive PARP credits upon completing the training.

“Indiana farmers use anhydrous ammonia in the spring and fall to fertilize our fields, increasing crop yields and ultimately supporting our food security,” said Janis Highley, INFB 2nd vice president and chair of the INFB Women’s Leadership Committee.  “However, it’s important to remember that it is a dangerous chemical that must be stored, handled and transported properly. INFB’s Women’s Leadership Committee is committed to the wellbeing of our Hoosier farmers and want them to be fully educated in all safety precautions while using anhydrous ammonia.”

The program is aimed at farmers and their employees who regularly handle and apply anhydrous ammonia. The program is free to all attendees, and light snacks and drinks will be provided.

Registration for the event is required. Attendees may register at www.infb.org/events. Registration for each training closes three business days before the event.
