Forty-two Indiana farmers were recognized for their outstanding conservation practices that protect Indiana’s waterways at special ceremony at the Indiana State Fair.
The Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts hosted this annual event, celebrating farmers who have implemented best management practices such as cover crops and filter strips.
The River Friendly Farmer Award program is sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau, the Nature Conservancy and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. The farmers honored this year join more than 1,100 farmers who have been honored since the program’s inception in 2000.
