(Indianapolis) – May 14, 2018 – Indiana Farm Bureau and the Farm Bureau Foundation recently awarded 13 scholarships to college students involved in agriculture and two adult education scholarships.

The scholarships include the Marion Stackhouse Memorial Scholarship, two Collegiate Farm Bureau Scholarships, 10 Carolyn Hegel Memorial Scholarships, and two Career Enrichment Scholarships. The scholarship money can be applied to tuition, housing, books and other educational expenses.

“One of the most impactful things that Farm Bureau does for our youth is provide scholarships for young men and women hoping to pursue a career in agriculture,” said Isabella Chism, INFB 2^nd vice president and chair of the women’s leadership committee. “There are many wonderful career opportunities in this industry and we know our scholarship winners have a bright future ahead of them!”

Peyton Mohler, Clinton County, received the Marion Stackhouse Memorial Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is named after the former INFB president, who served from 1976 to 1987. Winners of this scholarship must be INFB members pursuing studies in agriculture. Mohler is a Purdue University student studying farm management.

In addition, two $1,000 scholarships are offered to members of two collegiate Farm Bureau chapters. This year, Purdue University students Kathleen Jacobs and Josephine Cameron received the collegiate Farm Bureau scholarships.

Ten students, one per INFB district, received $500 Carolyn Hegel Memorial Scholarship awards. Students are listed below with the school they currently attend and their home county.

• Abigail Weaver, Purdue University – Elkhart County, District 2

• Peyton Mohler, Purdue University – Clinton County, District 3
• Cora Hill, Black Hawk College – East Campus – Huntington County, District 4
• Ryan Solomon, Purdue University – Boone County, District 5
• McKayla Mohr, (Undeclared) – Hancock County, District 6
• Jake McCormick, Purdue University – Sullivan County, District 7
• Kylie Arnholt, Purdue University – Bartholomew County, District 8
• Lisa Bloodworth, Vincennes University – Gibson County, District 9
• Morgan Ritzi, Purdue University – Dearborn County, District 10

In addition to scholarships for college students, INFB awarded two Career Enrichment Scholarships. Winners of the award must be 21 years of age or older and intend to use the funds to enrich their professional career. The scholarship may be used for a workshop, seminar, credit or non-credit class, or degree program, up to $500. This year, Jamie Schilmiller of Floyd County and Alan Duttlinger of Tippecanoe County were awarded the scholarships.
