Two Indiana Farm Bureau members have won grants from INFB that will enhance their efforts to promote education about agriculture.

The grants are through INFB’s Ag Education & Promotion Development program, the purpose of which is to provide assistance to county Farm Bureaus, Farm Bureau members and educators who do not have adequate funds for a new program, activity, or to attend an event that would enhance their ag education efforts.

Hallie Wright of Hancock County has started her own YouTube channel “ BecomeAnAgvocate,” which provides students with online videos to access agricultural learning activities at home. The grant will cover lighting and a backdrop to improve video quality. All videos can be shared on the local county Farm Bureau’s social media.

Laura Purlee of Washington County plans to incorporate incubation topics within the classrooms she visits. Her grant will cover an incubator, heat lamp, eggs and additional Agriculture in the Classroom materials. She also hopes to use additional AITC materials throughout the year during “Fun Fridays” in her classroom.

Grants are awarded twice each year. The deadline for the next grant cycle is Jan. 31, 2021. Information on this program as well as INFB’s other scholarships and grants can be found in the “ Scholarships” section of INFB’s website.
