Volunteers sought for annual state fair food event

May 29, 2024, 10:52 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro, INFB Marketing Team

The Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion will be the site of this year’s Taste From Indiana Farms (TFIF), an annual event sponsored by the Indiana Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee during the Indiana State Fair.

TFIF is INFB’s largest consumer-facing event. It will be held Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 8-11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The state fair itself is Aug. 2-18.

The purpose of TFIF is to demonstrate the wide array of foods grown in Indiana by offering fairgoers free samples of representative products. Last year, more than 8,600 people came to the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion for the free food samples and educational facts relating to each commodity.

The Women’s Leadership Committee is looking for volunteers to help staff the event. Shifts for volunteers run from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Each volunteer will receive one electronic admission ticket to the state fair, a meal voucher that can be redeemed at the beef, pork or dairy tents, plus a thank-you gift.

The pavilion, one of the latest products of INFB's long-time partnership with the Indiana State Fair, was built on the site of the former Swine Barn and opened in 2023.

If you are interested in volunteering for TFIF, visit the sign-up page on INFB’s website. For additional information, contact your district education and outreach coordinator or write to INFB’s education and engagement team at engagement@infb.org.
