(Indianapolis) – May 20, 2024 – In the annual Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans survey, half of new plan holders noted that they joined Indiana Farm Bureau to be eligible for INFB Health Plans, highlighting the need for more affordable and dependable health care in agricultural and rural communities.

Additionally, half of plan holders surveyed stated that their INFB Health Plans premium is less expensive than their previous coverage with about a quarter of plan holders saving up to $250 a month. In fact, 12% of plan holders were not previously insured before joining INFB Health Plans, highlighting a significant need for the health care option in the marketplace.

The survey also revealed that nearly 85% of plan holders reported they would recommend INFB Health Plans to a friend or family member with 80% of new plan holders stating they felt well-guided and communicated throughout the application process. Additionally, nearly two-thirds of new plan holders said they heard about INFB Health Plans through a current INFB member, highlighting the word of mouth across the ag community.

INFB Health Plans utilize the extensive UnitedHealth Care Choice Plus network for hospitals and doctors, giving customers many options to choose from. Nearly two-thirds of current plan holders reported it was very easy to use INFB Health Plans with their current health care provider and were very satisfied with the choice of health care providers in their current plan.

Across both new and current plan holders, affordability and availability of in-network providers are the top two reasons they joined INFB Health Plans, respectively. The fact that the health care offering is backed by INFB ranked third overall and convenience was rated fourth.*

Two different surveys were conducted and distributed to plan holders in April 2024 – one to plan holders who have been enrolled in INFB Health Plans for more than six months, and another to new plan holders who have been enrolled for less than six months.

The survey asked new plan holders questions ranging from why they chose their plan to their overall customer experience during the application process. Current plan holders were asked about their overall satisfaction regarding customer service, handled claims and current providers.

“We do this survey every year to gauge how plan holders are feeling about their coverage,” said Steve Allen, INFB Health Plans manager. “Hearing directly from both current and new plan holders gives us insight into what is most important to them and how we can continue to best serve their health care coverage needs – whether they have had INFB Health Plans for several years, or they just signed up for a plan.”

As of April 30, 2024, enrollment in INFB Health Plans totaled over 4,600 enrolled plans, which equates to more than 9,500 Hoosier lives covered.
