Does your family have a plan in place for the next generation to take over the farm? The Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation will hold a seminar on Thursday, July 21, that will provide resources on estate and succession planning for farm families.

The seminar includes a session on family farm dynamics from Dr. Ron Hanson, Neal E. Harlan Distinguished Professor of Agribusiness at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

“A lot people give the general tips for transitioning the farm from one generation to the next,” said John Shoup, IALF director. “What Dr. Hanson provides is a practical, objective procedure that takes into account the entire family’s vision for the farm.”

The day-long event will feature sessions on land value considerations, family dynamics, the role of a certified public accountant, legal tools and elder care planning. Hanson’s family dynamics session will offer six steps to implement an effective succession plan.

Registration is $35 and runs until July 8. For attorneys seeking continuing legal education credits, the price is $60 until July 8. Space is limited for this event. Early sign-up is encouraged.

This is the third seminar on estate and succession planning offered by the IALF.
