Deidra likes to say she was born into agriculture – which is fitting since her mom went into labor with her in the combine! Her family has a long history with Farm Bureau, and Deidra has been excited to carve out a place of her own in the organization, currently serving as Washington County Farm Bureau president. She competed in the Discussion Meet several times, winning in 2017 and representing the state in the national meet in 2018, as well as the Excellence in Agriculture Award competitions, winning in 2016.
Deidra works as a Stroke Critical Care nurse at a large hospital in Louisville, where she uses her background in agriculture to educate those around her, from doctors and other nurses to patients and the community. She also farms with her family, and has recently begun purchasing land for a farm of her own. She also has a small flock of hair sheep and works with the county sheep association.
Deidra represent members in Clark, Dearborn, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott, Switzerland and Washington counties.
