Two Indiana teachers are among those selected to participate in the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture “On the Farm” STEM professional development events.

“STEM” stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and the On the Farm events are designed to bring science to life for participants with the help of American beef cattle ranchers, researchers, nutritionists and veterinarians, according to AFBF.

Nearly 350 applications were received for 40 spots in Fort Worth, 30 spots in Philadelphia and 40 spots in Portland, Oregon. Applications closed Jan. 1.

Both of the Indiana teachers will be attending the event planned for Portland in late May. They are Elizabeth Ahlgrim, a STEM teacher at Our Lady of Grace in Noblesville; and Angie Williams, a teacher at Avon Community School Corporation.

The development of On the Farm was funded by The Beef Checkoff Program, AFBF added.
