Indiana Farm Bureau has been on the road meeting with Indiana’s congressional delegation recently to push the importance of the federal passage of year-round E15.
INFB is partnering with Indiana Corn Growers Association, Indiana Ethanol Producers Association and Indiana Agribusiness Council to urge support for a permanent solution in Washington, D.C.
A powerhouse in ethanol production, Indiana ranks among the top states nationally and contributes significantly to the country’s energy independence. Indiana is home to 15 bioprocessing facilities which together produce about 1.4 billion gallons of ethanol annually.
Widespread adoption of ethanol-blended fuels is being held back by outdated federal regulations under the Clean Air Act which effectively prevent E15 from being sold in the summer months in most markets across the country. Passing a permanent federal solution for year-round E15 could create an immediate 2.4 billion bushels of new corn demand nationally.
