Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans, a suite of more affordable health care offerings, announced it has more than 7,800 enrolled plans to-date, providing health coverage to more than 11,000 Hoosiers amid price hikes from many marketplace insurers.
INFB Health Plans offer traditional health plans for both individuals and families, dental and vision plans, and Medicare Supplement Insurance plans as an INFB member benefit. The plans offer a wide availability of nationwide in-network providers via UnitedHealthcare.
On average, a plan offered through INFB Health Plans can provide savings of 25% to 50% for families when compared to Affordable Care Act plans that aren’t subsidized by the federal government.
The fourth quarter of each year is open enrollment time for most employers and Affordable Care Act plans. Existing INFB members may apply for and receive coverage through INFB Health Plans anytime during the year, but Q4 is a good time for them to assess their health care options.
“As individuals and families evaluate their health benefits, they are seeing premium increases across the board,” said INFB Health Plans Manager Steve Allen. “INFB Health Plans are an affordable option not only for farmers and agriculture professionals, but also for folks outside of the agriculture space who are looking for an additional option to the current health care marketplace for themselves, their dependents or their small business.”
Existing INFB members may apply for INFB Health Plans at any time, however, membership is required prior to applying for coverage, and individuals must be a member of INFB for at least 30 days to apply for a Traditional Health Plan or a dental/vision plan. Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans do not require the 30-day waiting period. Coverage is statewide and plans are portable anywhere a member may live in Indiana, with no defined service area.
