(Indianapolis) – July 24, 2023 – Indiana Farm Bureau will host educational events and sponsorships once again at the 2023 Indiana State Fair. The state’s largest general farm organization is dedicated to protecting the future of agriculture, whether through its commitment to youth engagement or educating consumers about locally-grown foods.
INFB also is excited to partner with the state fair on the new Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, which is located on the site of the former Swine Barn and opens just in time for this year’s fair.
“We are excited to continue the strong partnership between INFB and the Indiana State Fair with the development of this new building,” said Randy Kron, INFB president. “The new structure is multiuse, but it also is a best-in-class livestock facility that I think will please livestock exhibitors across the state.”
“INFB is a strong supporter of youth engagement and education throughout Indiana,” Kron added. “This new facility helps us teach the next generation about agriculture.”
Aside from extensive facilities for livestock shows, the building also will house other attractions, including a permanent educational agriculture exhibit created in partnership with INFB and the Indiana Pork Producers Association.
INFB programming and events will take place in the new INFB Fall Creek Pavilion, such as the 30th annual Taste From Indiana Farms, hosted by the INFB Women’s Leadership Committee. At this popular, free event, which will take place Thursday, Aug. 10 through Sunday, Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., volunteers will pass out food and drink samples that contain ingredients Indiana farmers produce.
An assortment of commodities will be available for visitors to try, including lamb, duck, dairy, corn, soybean, popcorn, apples and cucumbers.
“For 30 years, the INFB Women’s Leadership Committee has shared the importance of agriculture to consumers who may not realize the wide variety of foods grown right here in Indiana,” said Isabella Chism, INFB 2nd vice president and chair of the Women’s Leadership Committee. “We are especially proud to be in the new INFB Fall Creek Pavilion this year. What better place to educate consumers about agriculture than in a building that is dedicated to Hoosier producers and ag education.”
The INFB Women's Leadership Committee is committed to educating the public through programs and events that promote agriculture.
INFB will continue its support of the 4-H youth livestock competitions at this year’s state fair as well. The organization will be the presenting sponsor of the Exhibitor Experience for livestock exhibitors, and all showmanship contests, awarding a variety of prizes for all livestock species, as well as Supreme Showmanship.
INFB also will sponsor the 4-H Supreme Drive, which recognizes Indiana’s supreme 4-H dairy cattle, Boer goats, breeding ewes and breeding gilts, and will take place Sunday, Aug. 13 at 4 p.m. in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
INFB’s dedication to youth in agriculture extends beyond the fair. There are many opportunities for youth to be involved in INFB, with scholarships for graduating seniors and college students; Collegiate Farm Bureau chapters at Purdue, Huntington and Vincennes universities; FFA advocacy days and trainings; and leadership development events, competitions, awards and conferences.
The Indiana State Fair takes place Friday, July 28 through Sunday, Aug. 20, closed each Monday and Tuesday, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center in Indianapolis.
