Ag Education Scholarships, Grants and Awards

Scholarships

 

National AITC Conference Scholarship for Teachers and Volunteers

Indiana Farm Bureau sponsors teachers and/or volunteers to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference held annually in June. The scholarship includes the cost of a single, early-bird registration for the conference, up to four nights lodging at the conference hotel, and a $550 travel allowance. Meals are not included in the conference registration. Any additional or miscellaneous expenses will be the responsibility of the recipient. This scholarship is valued at approximately $1,500.

White-Reinhardt Scholarships

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture offers White-Reinhardt Scholarships to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference to full-time educators and/or volunteers that actively participate in classroom ag literacy programs or events. This scholarship program is to provide travel expense funds to attend the national conference and then use the information gained to expand their outreach to students regarding food, fiber and fuel. Applications are due Dec. 1 of the program year.

CHS Foundation Scholarships to Attend NAITC Conference

National Agriculture in the Classroom (NAITC), with support from CHS Foundation, provides scholarships to pre-kindergarten-12th grade teachers to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference. This scholarship covers the early conference registration fee for the teachers who are selected.

Grants

 

Ag Education and Promotion Development Grant 

The purpose of this grant is to provide assistance to county Farm Bureaus or Farm Bureau members and educators that do not have adequate funds for a new program, activity, or to attend an event that enhances the promotion of agriculture and education. Program examples could include, but are not limited to, books for classrooms, incubator systems, supplies for school gardens, etc. Event examples may include the National Ag in the Classroom Conference, AFBF Women’s Communication Boot Camp, summer educational programs, specialized educational conferences, etc. Please provide sufficient details and information about your program to give the judges a clear picture of your plans and expectations. 

 

The grant is available in the spring and fall. The spring cycle is due April 15, and the fall cycle is due October 15.

White-Reinhardt Grants

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture offers the White-Reinhardt Mini-Grant Program to fund projects that will increase agricultural literacy. County and state Farm Bureaus may apply for grants of up to $500 for classroom education programs for grades K-12 in order to initiate new agriculture literacy programs or expand existing programs. Grants are available on a competitive basis.

CHS Foundation offers grants to be awarded to pre-kindergarten-12th grade teachers who apply with an innovative classroom project while using agriculture concepts to teach core subject areas.

Indiana Farm Bureau Agriculture in the Classroom Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year Award honors AITC volunteers who have gone above and beyond for the AITC program and provided unique or exemplary work in educating the public about the important role agriculture plays in our everyday lives. This individual consistently demonstrates quality leadership and the ability to take initiative.

  • Volunteers are nominated for this award
  • Nominee must be a paid INFB member, and an active AITC volunteer

Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award

The National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization recognizes educators through the Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award. This award highlights an Indiana educator who spotlights agriculture within their classroom. This award is open to district-certified teachers currently engaged in integrating agricultural concepts into non-vocational agriculture classroom settings at the PreK-12th grade levels. Applicants may be individual teachers or a team of teachers. The state winner will represent Indiana at the national level.
