Indiana Farm Bureau has presented Rep. Susan Brooks with a “Friend of Farm Bureau” award. Brooks represents Indiana’s 5th Congressional District, which encompasses all or portions of Hamilton, Marion, Boone, Tipton, Madison, Grant, Howard and Blackford counties.
Friend of Farm Bureau recipients are first nominated by their state Farm Bureau organization, and are then approved by the American Farm Bureau Federation’s board of directors.
INFB notes that Brooks has a 95 percent voting record on American Farm Bureau priorities in the 114th Congress. She has been supportive of trade and biotechnology, more specifically the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and the GMO labeling bill.
Serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Brooks opposed ill-conceived regulations, such as EPA’s Waters of the U.S. and Clean Power Plan, which represent government overreach beyond congressional intent.
Brooks’ Friend of Farm Bureau award is separate from her general election endorsement by Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT, the nonpartisan political action committee associated with Indiana Farm Bureau.
