Isabella Chism, 2nd vice president of Indiana Farm Bureau, was elected chair of the American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee at AFBF’s 2021 Convention. Chism was unopposed in the election that took place virtually on Saturday, Jan. 9.

(Indianapolis) – January 9, 2021 – Isabella Chism, 2^nd vice president of Indiana Farm Bureau, was elected chair of the American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee at AFBF’s 2021 Convention. Chism was unopposed in the election that took place virtually on Saturday, Jan. 9.

“I am honored to accept this new role along with the great responsibility that it brings – it is deeply humbling to have the support of my peers around the country,” said Chism. “Women in agriculture have always been equal partners on our nation’s family farms. It’s my goal to continue empowering and supporting women for leadership positions within and outside of Farm Bureau.

“I look forward to working with our national committee and staff as well as Farm Bureau women and grassroots members to reach for the stars while keeping our feet firmly planted in nutrient-rich soil,” Chism added.

The American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership program provides women with leadership training, communication skills and networking opportunities to strengthen their ability to encourage positive change in their communities and in the agricultural industry. Two examples of key programs spearheaded by the committee include the biannual Women’s Communication Boot Camp and the annual Women’s Washington D.C. fly-in.

“Indiana Farm Bureau congratulates Isabella on her election to lead the American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee,” said INFB President Randy Kron. “Isabella is a great advocate for agriculture. Her passion on educating the public about the industry as well as empowering women to get involved on the local, state and national levels doesn’t go unnoticed.”    

Chism’s leadership experience includes serving as vice chair of the American Farm Bureau’s Women’s Leadership Committee for the past six years and as 2^nd vice president of Indiana Farm Bureau for 13 years. She and her husband, Kent, farm in Howard County, raising corn, soybeans and sweet corn.

This is the first time the chair of the AFB Women’s Leadership Committee has been from Indiana.
