Indiana FFA Ag Literacy Challenge
Sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc.
Beginning in August 2012, Indiana FFA chapters may contact Indiana Farm Bureau for a specially selected book that can be used with schools, ag days, and other special events with students as the audience. Each book will come with a form to record the number of FFA students involved with the activity, what type of activity took place, and the number of students reached. Activities can take place between August 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013. Forms may be mailed or submitted online to our office and can be submitted throughout the contest period. Awards will be given at the Indiana FFA Convention in June.
The chapter that works with the most students during the contest period will be awarded a check for $500. The chapter reaching the next highest number of students will be awarded a check for $250, and the chapter with the third highest number will be awarded a check for $100.
Chapters will receive two books from the Awesome Agriculture Series about corn, Corn in the Story of Agriculture and Corn – an A – Z book. Chapters are encouraged to use the books to help educate students by reading the books, using the books as a resource, creating additional lessons on the topic, taking items into the classroom to show the students where corn goes once it leaves the field, etc.
