Isabella Chism

Isabella Chism is the second vice president of Indiana Farm Bureau and also serves on the IFB board of directors and its affiliated companies, including Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. She is a member of the executive committee and chairs the State Women’s Leadership Committee.

She and her husband, Kent, farm in Howard County, raising corn, soybeans and sweet corn. They have three grown children, all of whom are married with children. Their two daughters and sons-in-law farm with them.

Chism has been heavily involved in her community and in Farm Bureau. She is also a graduate of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series and has completed “Conversation Leaders” training through the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance.

Isabella ran a successful in-home business, managing up to 42 people. Other leadership positions include chairman of the Howard County Extension Board, leader of a community Bible study of more than 220 women, Christian education director and board member of her church, adult Bible study leader for more than 23 years, lay director of the Great Banquet Ministry, Northwestern School Corp. strategic planning committee, and chair of the schoolbook adoption committee.

In addition, she was appointed by the Howard County Board of Commissioners to serve on the Citizens Committee on Consolidation of Howard County and was then elected chairman by her fellow committee members. In 2012, she was selected by then-Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman to join an agriculture delegation to China.
