Melba Loyd of Floyd County takes office as IFB District 10 woman leader
Melba Loyd is the newly elected Indiana Farm Bureau woman leader for District 10. She represents Jackson, Washington, Scott, Harrison, Floyd, Clark, Jennings, Jefferson, Ripley, Dearborn, Ohio and Switzerland counties.
As a district woman leader, Loyd’s role is to serve on the IFB Women’s Leadership Committee, which organizes women’s programs and educational initiatives for Indiana Farm Bureau.
“I never want to become stale, and you are never too old to learn new things,” Loyd said. “I love meeting new people from all over the state and the United States, sharing thoughts and ideas.”
Before becoming a district woman leader, Loyd was the woman leader for Floyd County. She also served as the county policy development chair and held positions on the county fair committee and Ag Day committee.
She and her husband own a small alfalfa hay farm in Floyd County. Off the farm, she worked as a medical assistant, spent 15 years as a homemaker raising three children and recently retired from 17 years as an administrative assistant and office manager. In addition to her work with IFB, Loyd volunteers at Floyd Memorial Hospital and judges 4-H projects at local county fairs.
