Courtney Rude is for many people – particularly younger members – the first Farm Bureau staff member that they meet.
As outreach projects coordinator, Rude works with the Collegiate Farm Bureau chapters, county Young Farmers and other youth outreach efforts, such as FFA. She also assists with Indiana State Fair activities, trade show booths, the county recognition program and program development grants.
“My job reaches different audiences because a lot of what I do is interacting with non-members,” Rude said. “Reaching out to potential members through our programs and activities helps members realize there is something for everybody’s interest level, whether that is farm management or networking or education or policy development.”
Rude first came to Farm Bureau as an intern, primarily at IFB’s building at the state fair. She became a full-time employee in November 2010.
A native of Indianapolis, Rude has a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Purdue. Her hobbies include horseback riding, outdoor activities, traveling and reading.
“My favorite part of my job is working with such bright and engaging people – people you know are excited and open about what they do,” she said. “I like being able to help members and counties connect with ideas they may never have thought of if it weren’t for Indiana Farm Bureau and its diverse programs.”
