Who’s who at Farm Bureau: PR administrative assistant Charla Buis
“Could I get 100 extra Hoosier Farmers for our county fair?”
“Is the family farms display available for our ice cream social next month?”
“Can I get new copy of the preliminary program for state convention?”
These are the kind of requests filled every day by Charla Buis, administrative assistant for the IFB public relations team. Whether it’s sending out Champions of Animal Care T-shirts or updating media lists, Buis spends her days supporting the six-member PR team and answering calls for PR assistance from members around the state – and beyond.
She’s been at IFB since April 1988, moving from the farm records division to receptionist before coming to her current position. Prior to IFB, she worked in a real estate office.
In her nearly 25 years at the organization, many things have come and gone, but one thing has remained consistent: her love for working with the members.
“Having grown up on a farm and still being involved in the family farm, it is nice to share memories and experiences,” she said.
In her free time, she enjoys crafting, attending auctions and flea markets, and spending time with friends and family. She lives in near Belle Union in Putnam County with Darrell, her husband of 44 years. Her two grown children and five grandchildren live nearby.
