Education

Quality public education is one of the foundations of a free society and is the cornerstone of growth within rural Indiana. While Farm Bureau remains concerned about the impact that many changes to the state’s public education laws enacted in 2010 may have on public education, we feel the impact of those changes should continue to be monitored and evaluated before any major modifications are enacted. Farm Bureau does believe that whenever a referendum is held to raise funds for school capital projects or operating purposes, all property owners – including those who do not reside on the taxable property – should be able to vote on the referendum.

Farm Bureau supports the development of legislative criteria for school reorganization and for the funding of vocational agriculture and other agriculture programs in the state’s public schools.

Education Policy Advisory Group

The Education Policy Advisory Group is a formal group of Indiana Farm Bureau members that meets to discuss issues relating to the educational system in Indiana. They make policy recommendations and provide guidance for legislative issues.
